Carolyn O’Gorman

Carolyn’s journey into art began in Primary school when her teacher brought the class outside with paper and crayons to do bark rubbings. She was hooked when she saw how the bark patterns showed on the paper. She wanted to discover more.

She spent many hours in her bedroom painting and drawing. Her mediums then were pencil and poster paints. Now Carolyn favours oils and acrylics and she paints with brushes, palette knives, her fingers and sometimes baby wipes.

Her preferred subjects are wildlife and scenery with people either working or interacting. She paints from photographs which works for most subjects apart from portraits where she has found that they are much successful of people she knows personally.

Following on from her interest and enjoyment in painting from nature she has also painted some murals in children’s bedrooms, starting with her own children and more recently for her grandson.

She has also crocheted Christening gowns of her own designs for family members.
